Building a Better Budget

One of the most important responsibilities of the Board is to set the annual budget and the associated tax rates for property owners, which are currently proposed at 4.1%. I take this responsibility very seriously. I went through the ~100 page budget book in great detail and sent the administration two written pages of questions. (I asked more questions than all other school board members combined). In the video below, I review the current budget proposal. TL;DR - I am glad the administration took some of my suggestions to bring the tax rate down, but it is missing some of what I would expect to see in the budget of a world class school district.
